#10 Think Outside the Box-Embrace the cliche.

These boxes appeared in full force during the Covid-19 Pandemic and were initially intended to provide groceries for the ill, elderly and those individuals wishing to avoid exposure to this virus and other illness. They persist today as an important service. In this instance groceries ordered online are gathered for six accounts and available for pick up or delivery. The institution of this service was Thinking Outside the Box to provide a valuable service during Covid-19 and now.
#11 In-Stitches- Interpret that as you will.

Stitches are the universal closure. They are wound and surgical closures. Laces are the stitches for shoes and these tops. They make our clothes, repair holes in those clothes, create quilts and attach a variety of items like buttons. Some are invisible like surgical stitches while others repair our wounded self and can form bonds with others.
#12 Best Foot Forward- Interpret that as you will.

Is the Best Foot Forward the right or the left foot or is it both feet? More likely it really isn’t about feet but our attitude, our committment to ourselves and our family and our willingness to do what it takes. In this image from the loop around North Park Lake in Pittsburgh, it took their Best Foot Forward to accomplish their tasks.
#13 When We Were Young- Like the song or not

Ah, those fun activities When We Were Young. School, riding the bus or walking, seeing old friends and meeting new ones, outside activities and free time, especially summer. Time went by so slowly, especially when anticipating an event. I recall thinking, saying and hearing “will it ever come.” Now as adults we realize that time is flying by, like the bus going down the road and into the future. If only it could be stopped.
#14 Holes- Like the book or not.

This nest started in the spring of 2025 and its function ended with the first frost, covering all four seasons. The holes, small initially, enlarged along with the nest and were of varying sizes and shapes. The nest strengthened over those months but with the first frost was abandoned. The queens escaped their fate seeking shelter elsewhere. I’ve observed this nest on my daily walk and it has withstood the elements. I was happy to find it in relatively good shape on March 1st when I got this final image. Now the face says it all, its demise is eminent. I think of the nest as symbolic of our lives. The Holes are the gains and losses we experience including family, friends, loved ones, interests, opportunities and our health.
Thanks for reading.
