Unusual image of The Lincoln Memorial given the infrequent snow fall in the Washington, DC area. The effects of Winter Storm Fern, with its ice and snow however, did not deter the enthusiasm of the visitors to the National Mall. Skaters, walkers and hockey players were seen on The Reflecting Pool.

The Lincoln Memorial is where the memory of Abraham Lincoln is enshrined forever, as is his image. They are Frozen in Time. His principles have withstood the test of time, like his image. Similarly, all statues and all photographs represent that person at that moment. They too are Frozen in Time.

#7 Endless Highway- Like the song, or not.

Interstate 495, also known as the Capital Beltway, is an Endless Highway. Sixty four miles of an loop around Washington, DC thru Maryland and Virginia. This Endless Highway is multilane, including express lanes and is heavily traveled by greater than 250,000 vehicles daily. Though I am not familiar with the 1989 song Endless Highway, it reminds me of the 1959 Kingston Trio recording “Charlie on the MTA.”

The Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, DC brings family, friends, survivors and tourists to remember those that fought the war and made the ultimate sacrifice. They come to find their loved ones names, connect with them, honor and reflect on their memories. This man came with his family and friends to find his grandfather’s name. His finger is the Contact with his grandfather and the past.
